Primavera de Tapes serves nearly 30,000 tapas: a new record

L’HOSPITALET IS HOSTING EIGHT TAPAS TOURS IN 2023, WITH THE NEXT DUE TO TAKE PLACE DURING THE SANT JOSEP FESTIVAL (11-14 MAY)

The 32 establishments that took part in the 11th edition of Primavera de Tapes (Springtime Tapas) served a total of 29,630 tapas, making this year’s edition of the tapas tour the most successful to date.

From 20 to 23 April, coinciding with the Festes de Primavera (Spring Festival), bars and restaurants in L’Hospitalet offered a variety of traditional, creative and fusion tapas at the price of €3.50 per dish (which also includes a drink, in some establishments).

This year, L’Hospitalet is hosting a total of eight tapas tours. After Primavera de Tapes has ended, the tours continue in the neighbourhoods of Sant Josep (11-14 May), Santa Eulàlia (1-4 June), Can Serra (8-11 June), Collblanc-La Torrassa (8-11 June), Pubilla Cases (15-18 June) and La Florida (29 June to 2 July). The last tapas tour of the year is A la tardor, platillos! (Autumn Tapas), which is city-wide and will take place from 2-26 November.

The tapas tours are organised in collaboration with the L’Hospitalet Food Service Association and the food blog L’Hospitalet Gastronòmic, and offer customers an opportunity to sample the culinary delights created by the city’s establishments.

There is also a participatory element to all of the tours, in which customers can vote for their favourite dish in the “Most Popular Tapas” category and enter a draw for different prizes. At the same time, a panel of experts will select the winners in the “Tastiest Tapas”, “Most Creative Tapas” and “Best Culinary Quality Tapas” categories, and the prizes will be handed out at a special ceremony in July.

The tapas tours are one of L’Hospitalet’s most important culinary events, along with the Cocktail Contest for Young Professionals–City of L’Hospitalet Trophy, which took place on Sunday 23 April.

These two events give a boost to the restaurant and food service sector, which is one of the city’s main economic drivers, and also help to raise awareness of its wide range of quality cuisine with a view to consolidating L’Hospitalet’s status as a destination for food tourism.
