The winning photographs are announced for Mi Rincón Favorito de L’Hospitalet

The competition forms part of the council’s initiatives to promote the city as a tourist destination

The winners have been announced today for the photography competition Mi Rincón Favorito de L’Hospitalet (My Favourite Corner of L’Hospitalet). The first prize, consisting of 200 euros, was awarded to Silvia Consola for this photograph, while the second prize of 100 euros was awarded to Fran Verjano for this photograph. This morning, the two winners were handed their prizes by the Councillor for Economic Promotion, Commerce and Tourism, José Antonio Alcaide.

Between 3 July and 27 August, residents of L’Hospitalet showcased the city’s highlights and hidden treasures by submitting 185 photographs (more than the previous edition) to the competition, which took place on Instagram.

The winning images were chosen by a panel of judges comprised of technical officers from L’Hospitalet City Council and leading figures from the world of photography.

The participating photographs will be published on the Instagram account of @lhturisme, while the images ranked in the first four places will be printed on a variety of promotional materials (postcards, stickers and posters).

Additionally, the first-place photograph has been entered into the national competition of Mi Rincón Favorito, along with the winning images for the other contests that have taken place around the country. Prizes for the national competition range from 50 to 500 euros. The winners of the national competition will be announced on 27 September, to coincide with World Tourism Day.

Promoting L’Hospitalet as a tourist destination

This is the third edition of the Mi Rincón Favorito (My Favourite Corner) competition and the third time that L’Hospitalet has taken part. In the 2021 edition, L’Hospitalet submitted more photographs than any other city, while last year’s edition received 142 entries. At the national level, for the first two editions there were 50 local competitions and more than 7,000 photographs submitted overall.

The aim of the competition is to stimulate the creativity of local residents in the field of digital photography, while generating rewarding content on social media through a responsible approach designed to foster cultural activity. The competition also serves a promotional purpose, by enabling the users of a particular location to highlight those aspects that they consider most relevant.

This event forms part of the initiatives taken by the City Council to promote L’Hospitalet as a tourist destination, with the aim of showcasing its many attractions and enabling visitors and residents to discover unique and special locations that reinforce the image of L’Hospitalet as a city for tourists.

L’Hospitalet is an urban destination in which culture acts as the central driver of tourist development, complemented by a wide range of culinary options and sporting events and activities. Conference- and business-based tourism clearly constitutes the city’s key differentiating factor. This competition provides us with an insight into the perspective of residents and tourists alike, and presents an image of a city that is lively and constantly growing.
