The tapas tour awards honour 13 of the city’s establishments

L’Hospitalet’s tapas tours have served nearly 42,000 tapas dishes: 7% more than last year

This afternoon, 13 of the city’s establishments received awards for this year’s edition of the L’Hospitalet tapas tour. The prizes were given to the winners of the Primavera de Tapes (Springtime Tapas) tour, which ran from 20 to 23 April in parallel with the Festes de Primavera (Spring Festival), and the winners of the six neighbourhood tapas tours, which took place during the local festivals of Sant Josep, Santa Eulàlia, Can Serra, Collblanc-La Torrassa, Pubilla Cases and La Florida.

The tapas tours offer residents an opportunity to sample the culinary creations of the city’s establishments. In this year’s edition, 84 new creations were offered by the participating bars and restaurants, which together served a total of 41,985 tapas dishes: nearly 7% more than last year’s edition.

The aim of the initiative is to boost the restaurant and food service sector, which is one of the city’s main economic drivers, and to make high-quality cuisine accessible to visitors and residents. The tours are promoted by L’Hospitalet City Council’s Department of Economic Promotion, Commerce and Tourism, in collaboration with the L’Hospitalet Food Service Association and the Municipal Centre for Training and Employment (CEMFO).

There is also a participatory element to all of the tours, in which customers can vote for their favourite dish in the “Most Popular Tapas” category and enter a draw for different prizes. The winners of the other categories are decided by a panel of expert judges.

The awards ceremony was attended by the city’s mayor, Núria Marín; the Councillor for Economic Promotion, Commerce and Tourism, José Antonio Alcaide; chef and sponsor of Primavera de Tapes, Eva Hausmann; councillors from the participating districts; members of the panel of judges and the neighbourhood festival committees; representatives of the corporate sponsors; and leading figures from the city’s restaurant sector.

The city’s tapas tour calendar will now draw to a close with A la tardor, platillos! (Autumn Tapas), which will take place from 2 to 26 November.
