L’Hospitalet de Llobregat has obtained the Biosphere Commitment seal, a badge that recognizes sustainable tourism in the city through the three fundamental axes that characterize them: culture, the natural environment and the socio-economic field.
The Biosphere Certification is an initiative created by the Instituto de Turismo Responsable (ITR). It is a seal of international recognition that certifies the good practices of those tourism companies and services that are certified. Under the 17 sustainable development goals of the ONU, the BIOSPHERE Certificate provides those companies that adhere to the commitment with guidelines, improvement plans, workshops, training and a personalized service to be able to carry out the actions and good practices that require commitment.
In 2017, the Barcelona Provincial Council implemented the Biosphere sustainable tourism certification through 3 tourism brands: Costa de Barcelona, Paisatges de Barcelona and Pirineus de Barcelona, initiatives that have given way to awareness and vindication of sustainability as to one of the pillars within the tourist activity.
L’Hospitalet currently has this certification thanks to the actions carried out by the Councilior of Tourism.
This workshop is part of the actions derived from adherence to the "Biosphere tourism sustainability commitment" promoted by the Barcelona Provincial Council in order to improve the competitiveness of tourist destinations around sustainable tourism. This 2022 L'Hospitalet de Llobregat received the "Compromís Biosphere" certification as a city that contributes to the promotion of sustainable tourism.
