L'Hospitalet proves the use of a new model of intelligent wastepaper basket

It works with solar energy, compacts the waste and communicates its state in real time. They have positioned 20 units of great capacity, like pilot test, in places of high concurrence of all the districts of the city

L'Hospitalet has pioneered the pilot test of a new model of intelligent wastepaper basket with the installation of 20 units of these recipients of great capacity in places of high concurrence of all the districts of the city. They work with solar energy, they compact the waste and they communicate his been in time real through an advanced technology.

These wastepaper baskets, with form of closed rectangular prism and a system of lateral opening to deposit the remains, have 1,26 meters of altitude, 63 centimeters of width and 68 centimeters of depth, with a volume of 125 liters of compacted waste and of 600 liters without compacting.

The model of compacting on trial, totally automated, allows to store five times more than a traditional wastepaper basket of garbage of 125 liters for term half. He uses the solar energy for compacting the waste and communicating his been in time real. Moreover, it is equipped with sensors that they monitor and they brief of the levels of accomplishment and of the activity of collection.

The opening to deposit the remains can be operated with a lever of hand or with a pedal standing, and is endowed with a security system that blocks the access to the area of compacting. The lateral wastepaper baskets, with structure of metal, of plastic and resistant to the vandalism, also have one space in the superior part to deposit cigarette ends, without direct contact with the garbage to avoid risk of fire.

With this evidence I pilot, the Town Council of L'Hospitalet continues promoting innovative and environmental policies in the formality responsible of the waste generated in the city and searching solutions for the good maintenance and the cleanness of the public space.
